"Epic Presents The Unsigned"

1985 Epic Records BFE 40258

LP Liner Notes

The American Underground music scene lives! And it's getting more vibrant every day.

College Media Journal (CMJ), as a part of its New Music Awards talent competition, has been scouring the far corners of the United States in search of the tem best unsigned American "bands most likely to..." Via our network of over 300 college and progressive commercial radio stations, we've heard local favorites from towns big and small, from coast to coast, and border to border. And from that vast sea of rock 'n' renegades, cowboy punk/funsters, swashbuckling balladeers, and poetic prophets, we've chosen our ten favorites.

What you'll hear on Unsigned is just a taste of the thriving underground music scene that's exploding all over America. It's happening on your local college radio station, at the club downtown, in high-school gyms, and in wayside bars. Some call it an American Rock Renaissance. We call it music that deserves to be heard.

(CMJ publishes the New Music Report, a music industry newsletter covering the entire alternative music scene.)
