The Reducers 20th Anniversary Announcement
The Summer of 1998 marks The Reducer's 20th Anniversary and, in recognition of that milestone, The Reducers intend to give their fans the live record that they have been asking for nearly two decades. The twist - The Reducers are looking to their fans for favorite live tapes that they may have taped or traded. Although The Reducer's archives feature many great performances from their earliest days to the present, fans have been taping and distributing favorite live recordings for years, and now The Reducers are asking fans to participate in the making of their new CD.
We're interested in anything live - audience tapes, board tapes, camcorder video, live radio broadcasts and any other oddities you may have come across. Contributors of tapes employed for the final version of the project will be rewarded with autographed copies of the final CD.
Here's what we'll need to know. Offer as much information as you can:
Be sure to mention where or who you got your second and third generation tapes from, so we can track down the most original tapes for best sound quality.
- Date of recording
- Venue (city and state)
- Type of recording (audience, mixing board, or radio)
- Song listings
- Tape format(cassette, reel to reel, videotape, DAT, 8 track, wire, etc.)
- Tape Quality (a very subjective category but give it a try - Ex, VG ,G, P)
- Tape generation (forgive this if you're an experienced taper):
1st Generation - you recorded the show and have the originals
2nd Generation - you have a copy of a tape from someone else who has the originals
3rd & 4th Generation - you have a copy of a copy of a copy...Also include any other information that you think might be helpful - for example if there's a particularly great performance or moment captured on the tape be sure to make mention of it. Feel free to add any favorite anecdotes that relate to The Reducers. If you don't have tapes but know someone who does, please let them know about this search and have them get in touch with us.
Send any info you've got to <reducers@toto.com>, or send a letter to The Reducers, P.O. Box 1388, New London, CT 06320. If you prefer to call, please leave a message at (860) 447-8928.
We're shooting for a late Spring/Early Summer release to coincide with The Reducers' anniversary. and there's also a good chance that The Reducers will record some material expressly for this release. Thanks for your time and interest - this should be a terrific record.
Regards,
Richard Brukner
